Our field trips

Field trips are important learning experiences for early learners. They enrich and expand the curriculum, strengthen observation skills by immersing children into sensory activities, increase children’s knowledge in a particular subject area, and expand children’s awareness of their own community.  The staff at the Enchanted Treehouse is always on the lookout for new and exciting field trips to add to our learning.  Among our go-to places are the following:

Apple Picking

During September/October, children will visit Eastmont Orchards in Colts Neck, NJ, for an afternoon of apple picking and exploration.  Children will picnic in the orchards grounds and enjoy some fun and games while learning about how apple trees are taken care of and grow and the products that can be produced by these delicious and healthy fruit.

Public library visits

Children will be brought to the Lincroft Public Library, where they will enjoy a read-aloud and then an art and craft activity.  Children will also help in deciding what themed books to check out for the Enchanted Treehouse.  Books will be kept in a special “library basket” at the center for easy distinguishing and return.

peach picking

During July/August, children will visit Eastmont Orchards in Colts Neck, NJ, for an afternoon of peach picking and exploration.  Children will picnic in the orchards grounds and enjoy some fun and games while learning about how peach trees are taken care of and grow and the products that can be produced by these delicious and healthy fruit.

Thompson park

Children love to play and explore!  This pristine park, located just a short distance from our center, boasts of many trails and beautiful landscapes.  In addition, a high quality playground offers ample activities for the little community.  Because of the proximity to the Enchanted Treehouse, children will visit Thompson Park several times a year.

Monmouth museum

The Monmouth Museum, founded in 1963 as a Museum of Ideas, presents changing exhibitions in art, history and science to educate and entertain while providing a destination for creative expression and life-long learning for children.  Located only a short distance from our center, we will be taking multiple trips there during the year.

Historic longstreet farm

The sights, sounds, and smells of rural Monmouth County in the 1890s have been re-created on 9 acres at Historic Longstreet Farm in Holmdel Park, Holmdel. Interpreters in period dress show both daily and seasonal agricultural and domestic activities throughout the year.  This field trip is designed for children 4-years-old and up and allows them to participate in “chores” around the farm:  help the farm staff milk a cow, collect eggs from the chickens, and feed the livestock.
