Coding for Preschoolers
This program is designed to reinforce letter recognition, phonics, sight words, begin reading simple words and sentences. Age appropriate learning tools are utilized and class is run by a literacy expert. Children are guided towards understanding the building blocks of letters / words / sentences.
Our book clubs are run by expert reading and literacy staff. Program is designed to build a strong and positive foundation in literacy. Books are fun! Through step-by-step instruction, children learn how to recognize letters of the alphabet and the sounds they make, sound out simple words, and read short sentences. Your child will build phonics skills through in-class instruction and fun lessons. Each time your child comes to class, he/she will utilize a new book that can then be brought home for keeps. Class size remains small and capped at 6 students.
Our book clubs are run by expert reading and literacy staff. Program is designed to build and enforce literacy skills, including decoding, context clues, inference making, and boost overall confidence in reading comprehension. Books are fun! Children will participate in discussions and lessons that incorporate the books. At the end of the program they will get to keep the books they used and completed in the book club.
Our program will start developing your child’s very first math skills, including counting, writing numbers, mental calculations and even addition and subtraction. Utilization of engaging worksheets and games will introduce early learners to important math skills and enable a good head start for formal school. It is never too early to get them started!
Here is where curiosity will grow! Each week children will work on a new project, medium, and materials to explore and use to create their own unique works of art. New themes to match the time of year will be incorporated as appropriate. *Painting clothes recommended.
Children are fascinated with unique sounds and respond naturally to familiar melodies. In this class, early learners will incorporate singing, dancing, and get to try little musical instruments. This program will provide a positive introduction and reinforcement of the fundamentals of music. Collaborative learning and socialization will also bring benefits to the children.
When children play games in Spanish, they use language to have fun. This class will incorporate classroom and active games, as well as song and dance to teach language through repetition and context. Early learners will have fun and engagement through age appropriate activities and language enrichment tools.
Chess imparts critical thinking and problem-solving skills while encouraging children to concentrate for extended periods of time. A young child can learn chess the game by the age of four and most can do so in a classroom setting by the age of five. Chess has an inherent discipline; it teaches manners. On a social level, children learn to appreciate the sharing of turns.
Early learners will learn the principles of robotics, computer programming, and teamwork. They will create, program, and control robots designed to perform various challenges.
Future engineer training begins here! Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics all combine in this class to apply to real-life problems. Hands-on activities will help make connections. Imagination, fun, and collaboration will all change the way your children will think !
Coding is for everyone, not just super computer whizzes! Children today are tech savvy and digital natives. When introduced the right way coding games for preschoolers are a fun interactive (and hands-on) ways to explore the beginning concepts of coding. They will eventually gain the confidence to tinker and shape their digital world.
